Suggested Serves
Rhum J.M Blanc pairs beautifully with lime and is perfect to use for classic rum cocktails like the mojito and daiquiri. It shines most in the traditional cocktail of Martinique: the Ti Punch.
Classic Ti Punch
- 1.5 – 2 oz Rhum J.M BlancÂ
- 1 lime coin, squeezed into glass
- A spoonful of sugar in the raw or sirop de canne
- Method: Add ingredients to the glass and aerate with a swizzle stick or spoon to release lime oils and bring flavors together.
The Ti Punch is traditionally sipped without ice, but as the saying goes in Martinique, chacun prepare sa propre mort! This cocktail is endlessly adaptable and meets the moment perfectly every time.Â
Production Notes
Rhum J.M boasts a unique microclimate. The estate sugarcane sits at the foot of Mount Pelee, an active volcano on the north side of Martinique. Located on the east side of the volcano, Rhum J.M has an Atlantic sea breeze blowing hot winds, volcanic soil, rainforest, and high cloud cover. The water used to make Rhum J.M comes from the Riviere Roche and is naturally filtered by volcanic rock. Plenty of banana trees grow together with sugarcane. All this comes together to create notes of banana, anise, white pepper and minerality that can be found in all Rhum J.M rhums.
Rhum J.M is made using fresh pressed sugarcane juice, as is typical in Martinique and required for the AOC Rhum Agricole designation. Their sugarcane grows around the distillery, benefitting from volcanic soil, and goes from harvesting to juicing in 1 hour. Distilled once on a creole column still, Rhum J.M Blanc spends 6 months resting in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.
